Headache diaries are useful for both you and your clinician alike to track the progression of your symptoms.

Keeping a diary can be as simple as recording down the intensity, duration and location of the pain.

Here are some other things you may want to include in your diary:

  • Record the intensity of your headache/migraine out of 10, with 10 being the worst pain imaginable
  • Note down the duration of your pain
  • Where the pain is (right, left, front, back etc.)
  • Associated symptoms (e.g. dizziness, nausea, vomiting)

You may find a monthly calendar would be a good place to start, or even a weekly diary.

The clinicians of Brisbane Headache and Migraine Clinic will prepare a headache diary for you in your initial consultation and provide you with further guidance as to how to keep track of your headaches and migraines.

Feel free to contact our headache clinicians on 1800 HEADACHE or [email protected] for a careful and thorough assessment of your condition.
